Why AllAboutX? What does the X mean?

First-century Christians used the Greek letter X (pronounced ki or key), which is the first letter in the Greek word for Christ, Χριστος (pronounced Krees-tas) as a shorthand for Jesus. The X quickly became incorporated into a variety of symbols to represent early Christians' faith in the one God sent, Jesus. It was simple. It pointed to the cross and became a sign identifying believers. The mark and its variation can be found in ancient Roman catacombs, early coins, lamps, and pottery.
